The MOB Engineering Pinch Weld Puck is designed to stop the rocker seam being crushed when the car is raised on a trolley jack or a two-post lift. The Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86 share the same body, so the part fits the factory lift points of both.
Why you need it
On these cars the factory lift point is a thin sheet-metal seam running under the door. When the flat saddle of a jack or the rubber pad of a lift arm presses straight onto it, the metal folds, the paint cracks and corrosion starts at the exposed edge.
The damage accumulates: once bent, the seam deforms a little more on every subsequent lift. On a car that is raised repeatedly on track days, serviced often or has its tyres swapped each season, that adds up to visible damage along the rocker within a couple of seasons.
Design
A full-length slot in the top face receives the seam. The load is carried by the wide bearing faces either side of the slot rather than by the seam itself — the sheet metal only locates the puck instead of taking the weight.
Because the slot runs the entire length of the part, the puck can be slid freely along the lift point rather than aligned to one notch. The lower body is dimensioned to seat on a trolley jack saddle as well as on common two-post lift pads.
The body is assembled with two countersunk hex screws. The heads sit flush, so they touch neither the bodywork nor the rubber of the lift pad under load.
Material and manufacturing
CNC machined from 6061 aluminium and finished in electrostatic powder coating. The coating does two jobs: it protects against corrosion on a damp workshop floor, and it presents a softer contact face to the painted edge of the seam than bare metal would.

Use
Place the puck at the lift point so the seam enters the slot. Raise the jack or lift slowly, confirm the fit by eye, then apply full load.
Always use jack stands once the car is up. This part is a lifting interface; it is not a stand, chock or support component.
